Mini-Beast Safari

Down in the Woodland Discovery Adventure Zone groups have access to many different

wildlife habitats which offer a diverse range of Mini-Beast spotting potential.

This activity session is all about observation and respectful handling of the wildlife that
surrounds us. We will investigate water environments to find mystical creatures such as
the Water Scorpion and Fresh Water Leech.
We will also search out creepy crawlies that live in the woods and under rocks.

Our Mini-Beast Safari activity is available to all groups as one of our day visit activity
options or as an inherent part of the overnight “Discovery Camp”.

Participants will learn about the creatures that live in the woodland environment and depending on the creature will get to handle and observe its behaviour up close. Magnifying glasses are made available for extra small Mini-Beasts!

Identification charts are given to all participants which are carried around so all sightings can be recorded accurately. Points are awarded for each creature observed with extra points available for rare and hard to find creatures.

Instructors leading this activity have extensive knowledge of the wildlife in the area and have the experience to find all the Mini-Beasts a group could ever want.

Personal kit and safety requirements-

Sturdy footwear is essential and outer clothing such as waterproof/windproof tops are recommended.
Please note - Antibacterial hand cleanser will be available from staff after handling the creatures.
